What is AstroSteps

A step counter that finally gives every walk a destination.

Most pedometer apps just show you a number. AstroSteps turns that number into fuel. The app reads your daily step count from Apple Health and converts it into thrust for a spaceship that travels a real-scale map of the Solar System — from the Moon at 384,400 km, past Mars and Ceres, out toward Jupiter and Saturn.

It is a walking game and a gamified step counter in one: a calm, story-driven reason to hit your daily steps without shouty “train harder” energy. Walk to the shops, walk the dog, take the long way home — every step moves your ship a little farther into space.

And it stays out of your business. AstroSteps uses step totals only — never GPS, location routes, or health records. No accounts to travel, no ads, free to start.

How it works

Walk in real life. Fly through space.

The whole loop takes zero effort beyond the walking you already do. Open the app, and your steps are already fuel in the tank.

Walk your day

AstroSteps syncs your step count from Apple Health and Apple Watch in the background. Nothing to press, nothing to start — your everyday steps are counted automatically.

Turn steps into fuel

Every step becomes rocket fuel. Fire the thrusters and watch your ship cross the real distances between worlds — the more you move, the farther you fly.

Explore & keep the streak

Reach new planets, complete missions, collect space postcards and build a daily walking streak that gives you a reason to lace up again tomorrow.

Walking & steps

How many steps a day — and why they add up.

A common goal is 10,000 steps a day — a target that came from a 1960s pedometer campaign rather than from a study. The point of AstroSteps is simple: make the steps you already take feel worth taking. Here are the numbers worth knowing.

~2,000steps make roughly one mile, so 10,000 steps is about 4–5 miles (8 km) of walking.
7–8ksteps a day is where studies link the biggest drop in all-cause mortality for most adults.
30 minof daily walking supports weight management, heart health, mood and sleep.
384,400km to the Moon — your first destination in AstroSteps, one step at a time.

Whether you are trying to walk more to lose weight, hit a daily step goal, or just move a little every day, the hard part is never knowing the number — it is having a reason to care about it. AstroSteps gives your step counter a story: a spaceship that only moves when you do, and a Solar System that gets a little closer with every walk.

Walking figures above are general wellness guidance drawn from widely reported public-health research, not medical advice. Step-to-distance is an approximation and varies with height and stride. AstroSteps is a motivational game, not a medical or fitness-diagnostic tool. Talk to a healthcare professional before starting a new activity routine.

FAQ

Questions, answered.

Does AstroSteps track my location or use GPS?

No. AstroSteps is built around step totals only. It never reads your GPS location, walking routes, or maps — so you get the game without handing over where you go.

Is it a step counter or a game?

Both. Under the hood it is an accurate daily pedometer and step tracker; on the surface it is a space adventure that turns those steps into fuel, missions and destinations.

Does it work with Apple Health and Apple Watch?

Yes. AstroSteps reads your step count from Apple Health, including steps recorded by Apple Watch, and counts in the background so you never miss a walk.

Is AstroSteps free?

Yes — it is free to download and start travelling. Some extras may be offered as an optional upgrade, but the core walking experience is free, with no ads.

How many steps a day should I aim for?

The 10,000 target comes from a 1960s Japanese pedometer campaign, not from a medical guideline. Research on daily step counts generally finds most of the benefit arrives well below that, with gains flattening somewhere around 7,000–8,000 steps a day for many adults. This is general information, not medical advice. AstroSteps lets you make progress at whatever pace fits your life.

Which iPhone do I need?

AstroSteps is made for iPhone and uses Apple Health for step data. If your iPhone tracks steps today, it will fuel your ship in AstroSteps.
